Bolzano - Scrivia 48-72
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Bolzano (5-13) was rolled over at home by thirteenth ranked Scrivia (5-13) 72-48 on Saturday. The game without a history. Scrivia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bolzano to just 4 points in second quarter. Strangely Bolzano outrebounded Scrivia 32-18 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was naturalized Argentinian swingman Florencia Palacios (183-85, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who scored 21 points. Guard Silvia Gabba (170-82) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Scrivia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Polish-French center Karolina Piotrkiewicz (190-84, college: Liberty) who recorded 12 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Viviana Giordano (167-89) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Scrivia moved-up to twelfth place in A2. Scrivia will face higher ranked Milano (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Bolzano will play against Costa Masnaga (#10) and hope to win that game.
